Energy harvesting generator for train track side
Pribulla, Daniel ; Rubeš, Ondřej (oponent) ; Hadaš, Zdeněk (vedoucí práce)
The aim of this thesis was to design an alternative power source for an Object Controller, a component of the European Rail Traffic Management System wayside equipment. Compared to previous harvesters, a mechanical coupling, e.g. gearbox, was eliminated by using linear electric generator. This should increase the service life and reliability of the device. A three different permanent magnet synchronous generators were designed using magnetic circuit analogy and finite element methods software, namely FEMM and Ansys Maxwell. The simulation in Matlab Simulink proved, that the final generator design is capable of producing mean power of 5 W during the pass of a train from rail deflection higher than 2 mm.
